The arrangement of electrons in atoms — known as the electron configuration — is one of the most important foundations in chemistry. It helps us understand atomic structure, periodic trends, and chemical bonding. Transition Metals Transition elements begin with the filling of the $latex 3d$ orbitals after the $latex 4s$ orbital.
